Sro̠w-frer Kez (/sro̠w/ /frer/ [oyster] [servant; waiter]) is a subtropical Large Town located in the Trëyön Moot of the Viceroyalty of Rosid.

The name Sro̠w-frer Kez is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Sro̠w-frer Kez was founded by Rhunosco Palzic, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Sro̠w-frer Kez has a yearly average temperature of 14°C (57°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a pleasant 25°C (77°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 3°C (37°F). Sro̠w-frer Kez receives an average of 153 cm/y (60 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Sro̠w-frer Kez covers an area of nearly 7 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 4524 m (14842 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Sro̠w-frer Kez was founded durring the early 15th century in fall of the year 1412, by Rhunosco Palzic. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Sro̠w-frer Kez was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the early 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Sro̠w-frer Kez is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Sro̠w-frer Kez is buildings are arranged arrounded highly ordered system of restrictive flagstone streets which form octogonal paterns, allowing the incides of the octagons to be common grounds for the buildings on the edges, be it for parkland, yardspace, plazas, or markets. The town has a defencive wall made from querried stone. The wall is equipped with a full set of battlments but the nature of its construction methodology leaves it somewhat vulnerable to siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. Sro̠w-frer Kez's cost-cutting-focused defences are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

A look around Sro̠w-frer Kez is like a look into a broken heart. There is no planning, no organization. Everyone here clearly goes about their own thing with little thought to anyone around them who isn’t selling something they need. It’s not malicious. Heads are hung. Eyes are empty. Something truly horrible happened here once upon a time and the town never healed.

Civic Infrastructure

Sro̠w-frer Kez has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Sro̠w-frer Kez. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Sro̠w-frer Kez's parks.

Sro̠w-frer Kez has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Sro̠w-frer Kez's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Sro̠w-frer Kez has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Sro̠w-frer Kez's natural decorations nor waterways.

Sro̠w-frer Kez has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Sro̠w-frer Kez has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Sro̠w-frer Kez has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Sro̠w-frer Kez's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known primarily for its use of abstraction and simplicity. Clean lines, right angles, and primary colors characterized this aesthetic and art movement expressed via architecture and paintings. Its design ethos allows only primary colors and non-colors, only squares and rectangles, only straight and horizontal or vertical lines. Vertical and horizontal lines are positioned in layers or planes that do not intersect, thereby allowing each element to exist independently and unobstructed by other elements. These seemingly impossible principals for an architectural style coalesces into structures which most experts find hard to put into words. It is not that their geometry is impossible, but rather the style's attempt at producing works only describable visually was most successful..

The Lion, Mountain (Cat, Great) near Sro̠w-frer Kez are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Sro̠w-frer Kez's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves sacrificing an animal to channel Abjuration energies of tier 2 via throat chanting.

Due to a magical anomaly, Sro̠w-frer Kez is directly accessible from a nearby river, despite the lack of a physical connection between the town's pond and the river.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century the Kami spared the town from an attack. One of Sro̠w-frer Kez's local festivals commemorates this miracle.
